What’s new?
We have been told and learned a lot over the years about the impacts on our physical, and mental, health of sitting for prolonged periods of time. Being on your feet the whole times isn’t ideal either, so a combination of both has been proven to have great impacts. Sitting and standing used to be done by a few, but this way of working is becoming more and more mainstream.
With WFH continuing to affect many employees, more people are looking to fit out their workspace with a designated standing desk which can help them move from one posture to another throughout the day, without interrupting workflow. We recently sent out a mailer showcasing a new sit to stand desk we have available. Find more details here

What are the types of sit to stand desks?
A sit stand desk allows you to adjust the height of the desk so you can use it while sitting and then raise it up to standing level. Sit-stand desks are then either designed as converters (adaptors) that you can place on your existing work surface, or as stand-alone height adjustable desks. (source)
Of the stand alone height adjustable/sit to stand desks, they can be either electric standing desks or manual crank standing desks or exercise standing desks.

What to consider for your sit-stand desk?
• Do you need one for home or office based usage? And how often would you use it?
• What is your room/space layout? And do you need a Corner Desk?
• Do you use two monitors, so you need the space?
• Do you need storage with the desk?
• What type of work do you do?
• What other furniture/storage you have/use currently? Including the chair/seating?
• What height are you?
• How easy and quiet do you want the desk to be when changing it?

The benefits of these desks?
Articles and research out there include the benefits of:
• Reducing aches and pains
• Providing added comfort
• Flexibility in their usage and for varying styles of work
• Increasing productivity
• Enabling collaboration and coworking, and more …

What about seating?
The idea of a sit to stand desk is you either stand to work or lower it and sit to work. What you sit on whilst being seated includes of course chairs, and these can vary in terms of size, armrests, footrest, lumbar support etc, but stools are becoming more popular for perching, tilting or balancing. Chairs can also now come backless and with or without wheels, again depending on your needs and preference. Get more ideas here
The benefits of these stools and modern chairs are similar to the sit-stand desks when it comes to health, posture and ergonomics for workers.
